Rally Entry Fee Increases
To the Rallying Community:
We - the organizers
of Rim, Gorman, and Treeline - have been working hard with the Angeles
National Forest to address the need for post-event road repair in this
era of shrinking Federal budgets and manpower. Fortunately they are happy
to work with us, they're just strapped. Last year's devastating rains
really brought this fact home.
We have agreed on
a plan that seems fair to all. In a nutshell, they will allow us to hire
their approved contractors for grading the roads that need repair either
before or after events. The government typically has to pay higher wages
than the general public for contractors, so this plan is preferable to
paying the Forest Service to hire the same operators.
As a result you can
expect an increase in entry fees, but they will probably not be out of
line with those found across the country. You are probably aware that
most events now have to pay something for roadwork as a condition of getting
their permit, whether it is from a state, private, or Federal forest.
We are very fortunate
that the folks in the Angeles National Forest continue to be so willing
to work with us and that they support us, as we enjoy our hobby there.
Our goal is to keep your costs as low as possible. Thanks for your understanding
and support.
